You didn't say where your friend is being treated.  MD Anderson is one of the world leaders in leukemia treatment, and likely has the largest number of clinical trials for leukemia.  If he isn't there already, I'd suggest that your friend give them a call.  I'm so sorry that your friend has this disease.  I hope that one of the research centers in this country will have a good option for him.
