Gleevec rash and pins and Needles feelings

Does anyone out there have prickly, pins and needles feelings with Gleevec?  I had a bad rash...treated it with steroids and it went away...a month later, I got a little rash back...but also got this prickly feeling all over.  It feels like a 1000 misquitoes biting at once!  How worried should I be about this?  What have some of you done to combat?  I have also developed a high EOS%...went from 2 to about 27 in 45 days.  This may be a result of the body trying to fight off the rash/pins feelings.

Thanks for your help!  Tom

Re: Gleevec rash and pins and Needles feelings

Hey Tom,

I'm not on Gleevec anymore (now on Sprycel), but I had exactly what you describe after my G rash combatted with steroids, then the pins and needles sensation.

What worked for me, and I hope for you, was the homeopathic remedy of Arnica Montana pills and some Bach Flower Rescue Remedy.

I took the Arnica Montana pills as follows: once the pins and needles sensation was felt, I took 3 Arnica Montana pills under my tongue every 15 minutes for one hour, then 3 under my tongue every hour as long as symptoms lasted. I also took the Rescue Remedy when I felt like it. Note that for maximum effectiveness, do not be taking any form of mint at the same time (no mint-flavored toothpaste, etc.).

Best of luck,

Chris

Re: Gleevec rash and pins and Needles feelings

The large jump in eosinophils and tingles  might show an allergic reaction, but it is also possible that it is something else.  Any time there is a large and unexplained change, testing to determine the cause is a good idea unless the condition resolves itself quickly.  I would have another CBC soon to check the EOS levels to see if they drop back to normal.  If not, I would ask the doc to do more testing.
