I am starting to get really frustrated as I have for years wanted to raise money for TNT and it seems like getting registered to be a participant isn't so easy.
I have contacted both the local Chapter and the National Chapter. The local Chapter is about 5 hours away, not very practical for me to attend a meeting mid week. I have sent email messages to both chapters to get information on registering. What I get back is a link to the website. I wouldn't normally say I am an easily confused person, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to sign up as a participant on the website. Is there some "secret" as to keep people that aren't serious from signing up? anyone want to clue me in on what I am doing wrong?
I don't mean to complain, it;s just that my mom died of lymphoma 16 years ago this month, and I have wanted to run for TNT for about 8 years now. Finally I am in a place where I have time and energy for training and raising money. I am already running 13 to 17 miles on the weekend and would like to do a marathon. I've got friends that would happily donate and I would like to raise money for team in training, however, it is starting to be really really frustrating. any advice? It's also frustrating because this board is not easy to use and doesn't appear to have much TNT train use. Just frustrated. Sorry for the rant.
I am sorry you have faced these obstacles. Have you tried calling? Here in Maryland we have several training locations from one main office, so maybe you do have something closer. But virtual TNT from what I understand is a sign up on it's own. I am sorry for your loss, and I understand the need to do something, and how frustratiing it feels when it seems your road is blocked.
Good luck, let us know what happens.
Thank you!!! I just had to be a little more persistant. I got an application today and an information packet. They were sent from the head office via PDF's to my email. Though, I am sure they know from experience how best to go about getting applicants, I think a little link with information about how to apply would be helpful.
If all goes well, I might run Dublin on the way to see my husband in Kuwait (well, he will be my husband in just 2 short weeks). I travel to the Middle East every few months and have thought doing Dublin or Amsterdam would be amazing, and that was when I just planning on running for me. But now I might be able to run for a cause, so much more exciting. I feel like I have been pretty fortunate, even after losing a mom to lymphoma and I want to share not only my experience but my ability to run and raise funds.
You are amazing! And you have taken the first step to joining the Team that will beat cancer. And from a grateful father of a former patient thank you for all that you will do. And a double thanks for what you and your family (soon to be official!) do to serve our country. If you need any help or advice post it here or feel free to e-mail me. I use to own a running store, have coached for TNT along with having done many events.
mizunoheaven, I've been having the same problem. I have a crazy work schedule and sometimes cannot attend mtgs and activities that are pre-scheduled and
the nearest mtg place is far away to drive.
I have a great insentive to join as my mother died at 64 of leukemia and my brother in law died at 29 of lymphoma....any assistance will be appreciated.
By the way, I'm in the Palm Springs, CA area.
