Hello,
My name is Danni, and this is my first time doing something this important. My Question is is it really possible to keep this commitment? I have a real fear of failure something that i never felt before. I am even reconsider this overall. I just need someone who has done this before to enlighten me on this.
Thank you for your time
Danni
Danni, it is certainly understandable that you would be nervous, but let me give you a couple things to keep in mind. Team In Training has gotten over 360 thousand people just like you across the finish line in less than twenty years, that is an amazing number. Si say to you if you set your mind to do it, and listen to your coaches and mentors YOU WILL DO IT. Our running paths, our bike trails, our swimming pools are lined with angels, far too many angels, and we run, walk, bike, swim on the wings of those angels. Train well, raise lots.
You will not be the only one at your training sessions nervous about their ability to both complete the event and raise the money. We all start off that way, but if at over 45 years old I can run a full marathon only 4 months after starting to train then turn around and complete a triathlon 6 months after learning to swim, anyone can do this if they stick with the training program and listen to their coaches. The training programs really work, and you will be amazed at the generosity of the people around you. The hardest part for me was getting over my fear of asking people to donate money, but once you realize that almost everyone has had someone in their lives touched by cancer it becomes easier to talk about. Feel free to ask for advice.
Hi,
this is my first time also. I have always wanted to run a marathon, but have been afraid that I wouldn't be able to make it... I have been running 3-4 miles during the week and have built up to 6 miles for my long run... My plan is to run the Country Music Marathon in April. I am hoping this will be enough time to get my mileage built up. What kind of running schedule is everyone else on?
Well you are about to embark on a journey that could change your life. You will get plenty of support, your own marathon coach, and a staff full of people to help you on your adventure. Join the Team that WILL beat cancer. Our running trails are lined with angels, far too many angels, but they carry us over any obstacle.
