I wish I was heading for Disney (or Phoenix for that matter), but alas I am just coaching this season. This thread will pick up steam soon, here we haven't even had a recruitment meeting yet for the winter, so we will be signing them up soon.  Friend of mine did the Goofy last year, and when I do make it to Florida I certainly want to do that challenge as well.  Train Well, Raise Lots.

I am just running the full on Sunday at Disney.  I would love to run both, but im just not ready for that yet.

I will be heading for the Disney challenge for the 1/2 marathon. I'm looking for other people to meet at the event.  How is your training going? Where are you?

I am running the full on sunday. god willing.

it's going to be tough but w/5 months of training i should be able to pull it off.

Hi everyone!  I just joined the team today to walk/run the 1/2 marathon in Disney in 2009.  I'm nervous because I have no previous running experience or training in my background.  But I am excited to train and get to know other participants.  Anyone in a similar situation as me?

You'll be fine, you have a long time to train. Train for the full Marathon. Then walk the 1/2, then do the full.    Most important make a plan and stick to it.  YOU CAN DO IT!   We will be cheering for you!

I ran the Disney marathon in 2005 and then the first Goofy Challenge in 2006.  If you plan to do the Goofy try to throw a few longer runs into your training the day before your true long runs to get your body used to it.  I also walked the water stops to reduce the wear and tear and keep my hydration up, it can get hot in Florida.  I also had a massage each day after the race to speed recovery, but I'm used to doing this.  If you don't regularly get massages I would not recommend doing this because it can backfire and cause a lot of stiffness with the extreme exertion by your muscles.
