New Runner!

Hi everyone! I just joined team in training and I signed up for the philadelphia distance run and am a bit nervous! For the first time, last year i ran a 5k...my very first and so far only. Unfortunately I did not keep up with it and haven't done any running since them...I've done a little working out here and there but am nervous that I won't be able to keep up with the training or be able to run the whole 13.1 miles in september! Anyone else new to running and signed up or was new and did a race? Any input would be awesome!

Re: New Runner!

Team in Training has gotten more than 350 thousand people across the finish line, many of which were new to running or walking distances. You listen to your coaches and mentors, and you will be able to do it.  Start clearing that space on the mantle for your medal and race number. And CONGRATULATIONS for joining the Team that will beat cancer.

Welcome to Team In Training

If you dedicate the time for training you can do anything.

I dedicated my life to training and fundraisnig for TNT and completed my first triathlon yesterday.

I raised all my funds and stuck to my training schedule all the while raising a family and working full time.

Work with your coaches and do the scheduled training plan and you will cross the finish line with a big smile on your face.

Also, there is a wealth of infomation on running on the net, use it

Good Luck

Re: New Runner!

1st Thank You for Joining the Greatest group of people I have ever met in my life! To be nervous is okay, But know you well make it. I weigh over 240 lbs when I ran my first marathon and some how my coaches got my threw 26.2 miles. They are going to give you the tools to make it and they and the rest of your team will be there with you during the run. You are going to see a world of purple running with you and before you know it you will cross that finish line. Your feet and legs will be soar but it will be a long time for that smile to come off your face. Then that night you will go to the Victory Party and before the night is over you will be dancing and you will forget about your feet and your legs being soar, But now you will have a even bigger smile.    For in this time you will see that you did not just run 13.1 miles and change your own life, but you help change and save the lives of others.

Thank You again Just Ken

Re: New Runner!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Vinita and I recently joined TNT in Toronto!! This is my

first time being a part of something like this but I am very excited

and pumped!! I signed up for the Full Marathon (walk/run). To be

honest, I am more of a walker but I thought I could try and train for

both and hope for the best.

What do I have to lose right? I live downtown Toronto and would love to

meet with local team members to train and to socialize so we can get to

know each other. I usually work every other Saturday so I will not

always be able to meet for training on Saturday mornings. I was

wondering if anyone is interested in getting together during a

weeknight? Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays work best for me. Does this

work for any of you? Maybe we can coordinate some meets.

As my subject title indicates, I will be going to Alaska this

June and wanted to know who else has also signed up for this event.

This should be a very memorable journey. Looking forward to meeting

everyone at the "Kick off Party" on February 9th

Cheers,

Vinita

Re: New Runner!

Hi Vinita,

I also recently joined TNT in Toronto. I'll be at the kick off party on the 9th as well. I think we're meeting on the 7th at the Dunfield Club for the first training session. It's gonna be cold!

I live up north by Major Mack so won't be able to join you on the weekdays. Have fun with your training!
