What are quick and easy special events?

What was the easiest in terms of planning and executing a fundraising event that a first-time participant can do for their TNT campaign?

Office Collection ; Get with the HR Office at work or your spouse's work and ask them to setup a day that you can go around the office and ask for donations. Ensure they send a company email out, hand out flyers that tell everyone about TNT and LLS and most important the day!  Do this on Pay day or the day after payday. I got over $500 in a day and more later because on the flyers I put my donation web site.

Keep it up!!!!!!

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

Hi!

I found sending out the website info VERY often to be helpful - and I sent it to everyone!  But each time I updated my progress, the picture...something to make them keep looking to see what was next.  I also attached the link to my signature in every email!

Limping around work after a long run helps, too.  People who show concern will usually donate!

Another great, inexpensive fundraiser is a Trivia Night.  Often you can get a church hall or other location donated.  People pay $10/person to enter, and form their own teams.  You do the questions in rounds of 10, and collect the answer cards after each round to keep score.  Do 10 rounds.  The winning team wins $100.  People bring their own snacks for their team. If the hall has a bar, make it a cash bar and see if they will donate part of the proceeds.  Set up a raffle table, too! The best part is all you need to invest in are some interesting trivia questions!  Make them challenging, but fun!  Adults only - it is a nice way for them to get out for a few hours!

Don't be shy.  Be proud of what you are doing! Plus I find it easier for me to stay committed once I have told LOTS of people!

Good luck!

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

I just took that idea and sent this email out...we'll see what happens...

"Ok...so...Yes this is a chain letter! But this is the best kind there is. We all know that all the other emails claim to make a difference when you forward them on to 150 people. Who does that anyway?? This really will make a difference!! As you know I am raising money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. An organization that is near and dear to my heart. Here is what I need you to do: 1) go to my website and donate $5! That's right I am only asking for $5!! [http://www.active.com/donate/tntct/tntctJSmith] 2)Copy and paste this email to five people that will do the same. If we can keep this going we will raise the money in no time and change lives at the same time! Please do your part and keep this going!! Don't forget your donation is NOT limited to $5. Give what you think you can I promise you it'll change some one's life! Jennifer Smith Team in Training CT "

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

I came up with a Top 10 Reasons to give me $10 e-mail. I figure, if they will give you $5, they'll give you 10.

As you know (or you do now!) I am raising money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Here is what I am asking you to do:

Go to my website and donate $10! That's right, I am only asking for $10!

http://www.active.com/donate/tntntx/tntntxKLAMB

Top 10 Reasons to donate $10!

10.          It's a chance to save a life, it's a chance to make a difference.

  9.           It's a TAX-DEDUCTIBLE donation!

  8.           Leukemia is the #1 killer of children.

  7.           $25 pays for a patient's chemotherapy prescription co-pay.

  6.           $50 will register one person to become a bone marrow donor.

  5.           $75 provides bone marrow typing for a potential donor.

  4.           $100 provides patient travel costs to the cancer center.

  3.           $500 provides aid to a patient for ONE YEAR.

  2.           $1000 will help the LLS fund a researcher to find a cure.

  1.           Today, through the work of the society and your donations, 712,000 Americans that would have undoubtedly died - are SURVIVING.

Don't forget that your donation is NOT limited to $10. Give what you think you can. I promise you it will change some one's life!

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

Ask your friends to send your e-mail on to peoplein their address book.   Change the details to reflect you.

Hi guys - My friend Wendi is running a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, it's her first one, and she could use some help! She is trying to raise $3700 so I am asking you to Gimme 5!

1. Gimme 5 minutes of your time - go to Wendi's website at active.com/donate/  and read about what she is doing.

2. Gimme $5 bucks - just donate online(at her website above): five dollars for a great cause - and hey if you want to donate more fantastic!

3. Gimme 5 friends - send this to five friends and help spread the word!

4. Wendi's HERO pationt, Kesey, will be 5 years old in December.

5.  Every 5 minutes someone new is diagnosed with a blood cancer - money for research is desperately needed - so donate now.

Thanks for your support to help fight Blood Cancers.

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

I don't know how "quick and easy" this is but so far hasn't taken a whole lot of my time...next week I am going to be on one of the AM stations here is CT to talk about my fundraising...see if you can do something like that?

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

Go to www.rockyou.com.  They let you create a slide show with pictures you upload and pick a song. As you upload pictures, you can create a caption. I just put some of the TNT statistics for each caption.  Then, they have a link (you really have to look for it) that says something about saving to your myspace page, and it will give you a bunch of text and tell you to copy it to your myspace page. I did that, but put it on my TNT page.  It took a little playing around with, but it worked out pretty cool.

Thanks and good luck!

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

As most of you are experiencing, coming up with new fundraising ideas

can be tough. We have discovered a simple solution and hope you can

help us out. All you we are asking is that you review your favorite

business or businesses in your area. Click on the link: (Or cut and

paste the url)

http://www.insiderpages.com/fundraisers/TNT-CA-Fikes

-Find the "Join The Fundraiser" button on the right side of the page.

Click on it, and then sign up for the insider page profile. Do not

worry, this is not spam. Now simply write a review for a business by

searching in the business search box. If the business is listed, click

on it and then write a review. The site will instruct you on how to

finish. Remember the more reviews you do, the closer to our Goal we get.

1st review is worth $1.50

2nd-4th Reviews are worth $.50

-Although we only get paid on the first 4 reviews, please feel free to write a review for any business you like or dislike.

Kind Regards,

Bryan Fikes

&

Rosanna Parizek

-FYI- We look forward to seeing you on the Point Reyes ride! I hope it turns out like today.

Re: What are quick and easy special events?

Thanks so much! I also used your 10 reasons to donate $10 and made a

YouTube video that I embedded onto my donation site. The Gimme 10 video

has also been a big hit on Facebook today. So, I've given YOU 10 for your help.
