Biography:
I am a 28 year veteran wife and the mother of a college senior.
I am a proud Rural Virginian.
All my medical charts (that I have been able to sneak peeks at) describe me as a "pleasant 52 year old female of sound mind". LOL
I am a spiritual, though not "religious", person, who tries every day to glean from the lessons of Jesus.
I do find my grounding and positivity in the infinite presence of the Holy Spirit.
My user name was chosen for two reasons. One of my favorite fantasy movies is LadyHawke. I also consider the red tailed hawk to be my "spirit animal". In times of doubt, fear or crisis, I often look to the sky and see that our Creator has sent a hawk to fly by and reassure me that I can be strong, free, peaceful and hopeful.
In the fall of 2008, after weeks of pain and attempted diagnoses, a growth was found on my lower spine which turned out to be Indolent B Cell Lymphoma. This was successfully removed and treated with radiation. Tumors were also found under my jaw and in my lower abdomen. I am currently (beginning on Oct. 24, 2009) undergoing R-CVP chemo. I was fortunate to be able to stay in "wait and see" mode for a year after my back surgery. Chemo.? So far, so good!
