I was dx with AML at 22 had a MUD SCT at 23 and I am now 24. I am attending college online 3/4th of the time. I am wondering if anyone knows of any cancer related grants or scholorships I could apply for to help offset my costs? Any input would be great. I am located in NY, but my schools is online, located in WV.
Thanks again!!

Steven got a nice scholarship from the american cancer society but it seems to me you had to be graduating from highschool to apply for it. You may want to call them and see, if it is not applicable for your situation, they may be able to direct you elsewhere. Also the social worker at your oncologist office might be of assistance. Steven also did online classes for a year post transplant. Hope you find something.
I admire you for continuing to try to concentrate on school and attend college ( even if it is online) while fighting cancer. This was almost me. I was diagnosed with AML in January of 2009 and graduated in December of 2008 just in the knick of time. I want to go back to school and get a masters degree but right now that has been put on hold. The docotor said come fall I could probably go back to school if I wanted to but by then classes tend to fill up so we will see what happens. Good luck on researching scholarships! I hope you find something that will provide you with aid.
Frank - you probably already know of the i[2]y imtooyoungforthis.org site.....but on the chance you don't

In the beginning of the year, i help steven fill out the financial aid forms. There are pell grants and college grants (which are free money) that are available if you fall in the lower income. But they will go by your parents last w2 forms if you lived with them and dependant on them. Just something to consider. Have you applied for these? Also the earlier in the year the better. More money is available early.
on the www.planetcancer.com
website there is a beta program for identifying college scholarships --- just found it so maybe someone here can describe their experience.
Here is their value statement: "Welcome to CCCpedia, the premier source of college scholarship information for young adult cancer survivors. CCCpedia contains comprehensive and accurate information on more than 3,000 college scholarships totaling $5.8 million in financial aid!"
It certainly looks promising.
