AT this point they don't see a need to redo it. We are not sure of who did it originally as there was an intern also and Karl was out for the procedure. We can't prove that is what caused the problem but still don't know. The upper GI test also came back negative for any cancer so they still don't know why he has the "hot" spot in his colon area. He is doing a lot better today-I would say about 90 percent-just hope the diarrhea is under control. That has not been fun at all.
He will be at the hospital next Wednesday. I have my yearly that day so I won't be there.
Glad he is feeling better today. I won't be back at COH until June 29 - I have my scans that day which will determine if I move on to cycle 12. I just read that they had a successful trial with Vorinostat for small cell lung cancer. Seems like it is being used for a number of different types of cancer. I think they are also trialling it for prostate cancer. What's your annual?
Hi KC,
Finally posting after being upset all week. Had a bad scan. The node in my abdomen is growing again. Everything else is stable but I'm likely off the trial and now have to figure out what is next. Really disappointed and scared again. Story of my life it seems. How's Karl and what's the latest with his status>
Hi Lori
I'm so sorry to hear about your scans-ouch-have they told you what they are going to do next-my thoughts and prayers are with you. Karl has had a rough time since his colonoscopy and not sure why-is it treatment, age, or? He sees the doctor on Wednesday. They are setting up another appointment for him at Loma LInda as they want to put a camera down him to see why he lit up-so far everything else they have done has come up negative for anything-so far he is still in the trial but we don't know for how long. Take care and keep me informed.
Hi Lori,
He is still having issues with diarrhea and it is not good. They are running even more tests to determine if it is the SAHA causing this or something else. They have postponed his treatment for another week due to this. He feels the tunors or shrinking but you never know-the last CAT scan showed stable. He still is going to Loma Linda in September so we will know more after that. What treatment are you going to have? I know you said you were taking a break but I'm wondering if anything else has come up.
HI
Thank you for asking. He had the dosage reduced one more time due to the constant battle with horrible diarrhea. It has seemed to help. He also had a test done at Loma Linda to determine what the colonoscopy and other test didn't see as he is still showing a hot spot in that area. He is suppose to get the results of that on Wednesday. I believe this determines if he is still in the trial or not. I'm saying my prayers. I'm off to read your other post-keeping you in our prayers.
Thank you for updating me on Karl and thanks for your post on the other thread - I spaced and forgot to thank you when I just posted there. Please let me know on Wednesday what he finds out about that hotspot. That is good news that he is having less intestinal issues at the lower dose. Hope that he will continue stable. xxx,e
What is going on with you? Did you get the results of your biopsy? What are you going to do for your next treatment. Karl does see the doctor this week. He had a PET and a CAT scan this week so we are anxious to see how he is doing. Other than a cold he seemed to do better with the lowered dosage and had less intestional "issues".
Hi
Thanks for asking. He is still on the trial but now on half dose. Currently he has stable disease and they don't want to change what they are doing due to his other health issues. He sees the doctor again the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. How are you doing-is your new treatment working? Keep me informed and have a good holiday season.
Not sure yet if the treatment is working. My oncologist thinks that things look and feel smaller but I am not sure. Started cycle 2 this week. Actually been manageable. Nice that on this treatment, I just have the drug 2 days and then am "off" for 26 days. I think R-Benda is also used for mantle cell so if Karl ends up leaving the R-V behind, he has another great option. LEt me know what happens next week and i'll keep yhou posted on me. As it stands now, I'll have cycle 3 on Dec 14/15 and a few weeks after I think they'll scan me and see what's going on. xxxlaurie
