having a few days off from the clinic is such a nice thing. What drove me crazy was when they cut me down to once or twice a week. I was hanging out in Seattle with nothing much to do when I could've been home, or so it seemed.
But it was good to be there when something came up that needed their attention. For now, enjoy the days off. In time, it will be back to real life and ya'll wont have the time together you're having now.
I'll tell you one thing, though, I wouldn't want barium pumped into my belly on a regular basis. I can understand getting sick afterwards.
And, yeah, it's all easier said than done. But just trying makes it possible to have a few good moments. My theory is always, if you can get a few good moments, it's better than none. ![]()

Day +35: Yesterday was a long day at the hospital as Dave has had to get blood. But Dave has today off from the hospital, which is nice. Starting yesterday Dave only goes in Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week. The rest of the days he'll get any IV fluids here at the apartment. We were able to get permission to stay at the Hospitality Apartments till Nov. 22nd, at which point we'll move to one of the apartment complexes run by the Church Apartment Ministry. We haven't got the results from the scans yet as the doctor comes once a week and we saw him monday. So I guess sometime next week we'll get them. Dave also had a bronchoscopy Wednesday. He had one this summer and they discovered that the left upper lobe of his left lung was closing up. When they did the bronchoscopy this week they discovered that that lobe was completely closed up and that the other was narrowing. So in December they are going to do a procedure in which they'll try ballooning it open. Otherwise his lungs were in great condition. My family is coming down here for Thanksgiving, so we're looking forward to that.
It sounds like he's doing well so far. I hope the lung procedure goes smoothly.
Take care,
Kelly
The lung thing sux eggs. I'm glad they've got something to do to address the lung issue. But it sounds as if everything else is going great.
Keep us posted and have a great weekend yourself.

Sounds like things are going well, except for the lungs, but good that they have a feasible plan for that, too. Glad to hear your family will be in for Thanksgiving, just make sure Dave doesn't get too tired out. But that sense of normalcy, having a regular holiday like everyone else, can really help a recovering patient (and caregiver!), too. So I'm glad things will be festive! Keep us posted.

This past weekend was nice. We got to sleep in everyday as Dave didn't have to go into the ATC. We moved to the other apartment Sunday afternoon with my mom's help. She's staying with him now. I'm back in College Station for a few days. I was soo happy to see my dogs, and they me
I'm going back down to Houston Wednesday for the Thanksgiving holiday. Looking forward to seeing my family. Dave continues to improve steadily, which I'm very happy for. He seems to be getting his strength back a little as well.
That's great to hear. Enjoy the holiday! You deserve it.

Sounds great, Levica. I love it when people have such a good response and I hope and trust it will continue.
That you're back in CS reminds me to ask, have you been able to continue your studies at all this semester? I know it would be tough but colleges are so much more flexible than they were when I was in school, who knows? ![]()

Tex: I wasn't taking classes this semester, and my advisor was very understanding of me being down in Houston with Dave during his stay in the hospital. The main instruments I'll be using for my dissertation research are down till January anyways, so it worked out in that way for me.
Dave got the results of the PET and CT scans this week. According to the results, the cancer is resolved. There were some other big words I don't know the meaning of, but basically he's clear of cancer, yea!! We're excited and encouraged by this news
We're enjoying Thanksgiving with my family here in Houston,
We wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!
Wonderful news for Dave!! I'm very excited for you both. Enjoy Thanksgiving, there's a lot to be grateful for! (((Hugs)))Pam
That's great news. I figured it was all taken care of by the way he's been responding. Nice to have that verified.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Blessings
That's great news! Have a relaxing weekend now!

Hey Levica,
That's GREAT news, and the timing wasn't bad, either! Hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Great news levica. I am sure it was good to get home and see the dogs. Will you be returning to school full time in January?

Yes, I'll be back in the lab full time in January.
Sorry for not posting recently. We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. Me, my twin sister and our mom did a bit of Black Friday shopping, which was a lot of fun
I'm back in College Station at the moment. I'm heading down to Houston tomorrow to spend the weekend with Dave and I'll stay through Tuesday, which is when his lung procedure is. I've kept myself quite busy with lab, dogs, cleaning house, etc. Dave's been doing well. He's still anemic, and getting blood once a week, otherwise he's coming along well.
