Clorafabine.Has he ever had it??Sometimes if they switch the drugs the Luekemia does not recognize it.
I had clofarabine after my first relapse. After failing to go into remission in my first induction, I had another round with clofarabine and ara-c. It worked. AML does tend to develop strategies to get around drugs it's already seen before.
I will have to ask, I think he had it back in Jan 09, not sure. I know he had ARA-C.
I've also heard of people who have gotten MEC for relapsed AMl.Mitoxantrone Etoposide and Cytarabine with Valspodor
I misunderstood., When you said he has cells left, I thought you were talking about his vhimerism. It's good to have those extras in stock. I'm still keeping mine stored.
I also didn't realize he'd had the stuff in his spine before. Or maybe I just didn't remember. I dunno.
I do like your attitude. Just keep on keepin' on until you get on top of this stuff. The pummel it into submission. And I'm glad you're feeling better. We need those days.
Have a good weekend.
Blessings
Hi Sunny,
Just checking in and wondering how things are going?

HI WBF,
Sorry for the delay in my reply. We are well. We have another BMB this week, with results next week. My husband received a second round of decitibine ( 5 days, 1 hour) and his marrow was clean, although his spinal fluid was not. He then received a few lumbar punctures with chemo and that cleared up the leukemic cells in his spinal fluid. He has had 3 clean spinal fluid biopsies since. After all this they held off on the Mylotarg, they felt it was not necessary.
He had an odd rash for two weeks that finally cleared up....they could not identify the source of it and it didn't itch. He also had radiation on his two leukemia cutis sites and those bumps are almost gone. The more I think about leukemia , the more I think it is a severe virus. I remember when my kids were younger and were fighting off viruses, sometimes they would break out in a rash. I interpret that to be the virus is working itself out. Well, that is our preferred method of thinking anyway !
My husband is making basic progress....his digestive track is starting to balance out and be normal again. He looks more like his old self ,and he is maintaining and slowly gaining weight. The oncologist askes lots of questions about how he feels, sleeps, energy levels, eating, a typical day etc... and can't seem to find anything that is an issue. So we are very optimistic.
I hope all is well with you and all those on this discussion board !![]()

Hi Sunny,
Thanks for the good report. It sounds like things are turning around for him and he's got it all going the right direction. One step at a time, he's getting there. Hope you both have a great holiday and he continues to improve day by day.

Sunny, Very glad that things are looking up for you and your hubby! hugs, nicole
This is a great report. Whatever ya'll are doing, keep doing it.
I think I understand your reasoning, but leukemia is not a virus. It's cancer by every definition of the word. I don't know about you, I had a hard time for a very long while thinking of it as a cancer as it didn't form a tumor. I finally learned how it is cancer.
Whatever it is, I hope ya'll continue to experience and upswing and move toward more improvement and better health.
Blessings
