How was the appointment/bloodwork yesterday? Thinking about you!
Again, just bumping this up - how was the bloodwork last Thursday?
Hello and I am so sorry it has taken me so long to update you all. We actually ended up inpatient with fevers and really bad headaches. The Drs ended up doing a spinal due to the headaches (and other symptoms). Well it's not a relapse! BUT he does have bacterial menengitis. It sure explains the counts dropping, which are still very low BTW and it also explains so much of his other symptoms. Needless to say we are inpatient and most likely will be for a while. I asked his Drs, how could he have gotten this. Their answer shocked me actually. They said he could have gotten it anywhere, it could even be caused by the H1N1. When I asked how, their answer was, the H1N1 is new to us also and even we do not totally understand the side effects and especially how it affects our cancer kids. So here we are. Still with the H1N1 effects and now with the menengitis. I actually was glad to hear the DX of menengitis! What a scary world we cancer parents live in when we are happy that our children have a different DX, as long as it's not the big C coming back. Who would have ever thought I would be smiling because "its only menengitis"? Thank you all so much for your prayers!
Well, again, this is sad to say, but I'm happy that its meningitis! How weird was that to type???? Anyway, hopefully they are on top with the treatment and he gets better real soon. I can imagine your fright and panic with first the low counts and then fevers and headache - that trip to the hospital must have been a long one - I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Hope he'll turn the corner soon so you can get back home and back on track with the chemo!
Take care.
Wow, that is very scary. I really hope that Brandon recovers quickly, and I am so glad that it is not relapse.
"It's only meningitis"... you're right, there's not too many places you'd hear that. I hope Brandon's out of hospital soon. Thanks for updating us!
