Sharon,
It seems my computer itsn't playing nice with this forum either. I'm just now seeing that your thread was updated back on the 10th and of course I'm seeing today's update. What's with that . . .??? Very strange.
Anyway, lol that you're the healthest sick person according to your oncologist. Glad too that you can wait until late January and wow you have a great boss, they seem to be few and far between. Although, Marc's bosses were really, really kind to him when I was going through treatment. In fact, his company does Light the Night and there are several teams. Pretty cool, huh? One of the VPs had family with non-hodgkin's lymphoma.
See you over in the garden and thanks for joining me for the jammie party, even though I thought I was alone. Maybe I need my eyes and hears checked. LOL
Hugs,
Jane
Hi Sharon,
Glad the timetable lets you enjoy your holidays without being in treatmnet. One suggestion to you and that is to think hard about using Rituxan with the Benda. THe doctors that I have consulted with are all feeling that the results are showing that Benda with Ritux is a more powerful punch than just Benda, even in people who think they are Rituxan resistant. I think Greg posted some research from ASH too that you might want to check out. Even though I feel like Rituxan on it's own is like sugar water for me, the oncologists that I've spoken to insist that the Benda works differently than the CHOP and that in combo with the Rituxan there's a potential big benefit. Just my 2 cents. Fnished cycle 2 yesterday and had my neulasta shot today. Been pretty on edge but I know I'll calm back down soon. xxxlaurie
Hi Sharon
Have a lovely holiday season - enjoy Thanksgiving and ignore all those little beasties and pretend they don't exist!
DOn't you just love the oncologists when they look at you and say - well no one would ever know there was anything wrong with you. Great news - you feel good and then they check the scan results which show it actin up again - crazy - I always feel it is so surreal but have to trust their judgement.
Take care and enjoy - think your idea of going out for buffet lunch is good - someone else to do the cooking and cleaning up for a change.
All good here - rituxan no 4 for me tomorrow - worse part is getting the needle in = always takes a few goes - hopefully just 1 tomorrow - the weather is stinking hot here - areas in our state are having record number of days over the 100 degrees and we look like copping one tomorrow - not a summer girl - always hard to get cool and much easier to get warm in winter.
Will be interested to find out how you go on the Benda - who knows what is ahead of me if the rotten beast doesn't capitulate to the Rituxan this time.
Hugs
Lyn
Good for you on the Thanksgiving plans. My Mom stopped "doing" Thanksgiving 4 years ago. It's not felt the same since (not to make you feel guilty) - we'd have all us kids plus grandkids - there were 25 to 30 of us. I can't imagine why she'd want to stop
- lol!
Hugs, Jeri
LOL I understand about the heat, Lyn! One can always put on more clothes but there are only so many that can be taken off before people begin to point and laugh (at least in my case! LOL).
Good luck with R-4 tomorrow. Let's just call it "liquid love' and it's going to it's designated targets and blasting them to pieces!
Hugs!
Sharon
25 or 30 of you???? <eyes POP!> You surely do have a Supermom. I remember the times when we'd all get together, nieces/nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins (sometimes),.....OMG! It was noise and confusion but everyone brought the side dishes to the home that cooked the turkey so it wasn't too much on any one person. Just wish I could make my Mom's hot rolls. Sis, if you're reading this can you Fed-Ex me overnight a batch - you're much better than I am at the rolls! lol
Hi Laurie,
I've thought long and hard about the Rituxan with the Benda and I asked my Tucson doc about it. He's the one who said it was pretty obvious that R does a whole lot of nothin' for me. That's why the Zevalin failed, it was piggybacked a ride to no-where cos the Rituxan wasn't/didn't/couldn't zero in on the lymphoma as it was supposed to. Guess my bad cells go into stealth mode with R - either that or they are wearing itty-bitty cammouflauge outfits. lol
I'll think on it/research some more though and when I see my local doc in mid-January, may bring it up again.
Well it's been another boring 5-6 weeks on the medical front for me but it's almost time to see another year in. Hard to believe it's been over 8 years now since original dx. I remember the scared feeling in the pit of my stomach, having to learn a whole new language, feeling as if I was in a whirlwind and reading on an old, old website where I'd be lucky to see 2003 come in! <whew!>
So for all you who've been traveling with me for awhile - THANK YOU! For all of you who've allowed me to join you on your journey, I'm humbled. In memory of all those who's journey has ended, I am blessed that our paths were allowed to cross however briefly it was. And for those of you just starting the journey - there is hope! Stay focused, stay determined and get up off that mat one more time than you are knocked down!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to one and all!
2010 - the best is yet to be....
