Hey everyone. Sorry I have made my way away from this board but every so often just lurk a bit. Just had my 4.5yr check up post MDS/AML/SCT and all counts GREAT! Cannot wait to see my 5yr in May.
I am following a journal of this young gal who is having her transplant tomorrow. I would love to send her the poem "The night before transplant". Do any of you have this? I use to keep in "word" but my computer was recently reformatted and Iost it. I would so appreciate it if any of you have it. If you do I need it soon (nothing like waiting for the last few hours)!!
Thx Pam
Congratulations on 4.5 years! I'm glad to hear the counts are good. I'm not familiar with the poem but good luck on finding it.
Take care,
Kelly
Glad to see your smiling words again, Pam. And congrats, indeed, on the 4.5, I did #5 last June and thoroughly enjoyed it. Was kind of weird emotinally as I got right to the date, though.
I remember the poem but don't have a copy. And I think everything related to the old site is consigned to the vapor of history by now.
Sorry I can't help you. Drop by again, though. Especially in May.
Blessings
I don't have the poem, but am really glad to hear from you and to know that you are doing well. I'm also MDS (probable)/AML/SCT so I've kind of followed your progress over these past few years. Stay in touch with us, even though I know you are a busy lady. If you do get the poem and it's not posted, would you let us know. I also have someone that could use it soon. Congratulations on a good 4.5 check-up.
Miracles do happen...I just tore through my files and found the poem. Here it is:
'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE TRANSPLANT
'Twas the night before transplant
And all through the ward,
Everyone was stirring to get on the board.
Rhonda in her bed and Scott near by,
All were awaiting the new stem cell supply.
When what to our eager eyes does appear,
An IV on a pole and lots of good cheer.
On nurses, on doctors, on family and friends,
We are here to support you as the treatment nears end.
With a pouch full of stem cells and all doctors, too,
They quietly hook up the IV to you.
With a wink of his eye and a nod of his head,
The doctor soon told me I had nothing to dread.
He turned on the tubing which filled all the holes,
Giving my body new stem cells
And my life some new goals.
After checking all systems, they left us to pray,
Wishing Rhonda a new and Happy Birthday!
Holy cow, Lee. Ain't you the one? ![]()
This is cute! I'll modify it for my son and hang it on his door next week when he is admitted next Friday (T minus 12!) Transplant is tentatively on December 9th, so the poem fits for the season! Now if only Santa Claus will bring us the miracle we want for Christmas!
Thanks so much for finding me that poem. Thanks for all the congrats on my 4.5yr Post SCT checkup. So looking forward to that Big 5.
Great Thanksgiving day with family. God has been so good to me and for that I am soooo Greatful! Hope all of you are doing well...Take care! Pam
