You guys,
It means more than you know to have you in my corner. Still a bit
nauteous. Found the er ah green plant helpful today. I confess it is
getting harder and harder to steel myself for two more rounds of this. I
have to give myself a shot each day for five days after the chemo. The only
food that tastes like itself right now is fruit. Still losing weight like
crazy. So... okay I don't mind that. My dear friend made me blueberry soup
yesterday. oh my was that good. Her hubby used to give it to the downhill
skiers he was training after a long run. So my diet consists of watermelon,
blueberry soup , an egg once in a while, and grapes. I watched a video
today on forgiveness and still working that muscle. It has done me more
good than anything else I have done. i get to see my medical qigong surgeon
wednesday. Angels surround me every every day. If course you are all among
them.
Wellness thoughts and Reiki to all...
Well, all my lymphoma lumps disappeared with the first round of rituxan.
Did anybody else have that?
Hi Carol,
I had 6 rounds of R-CHOP rather than just he R because of the grade of the lymphoma. However, after my first treatment the small node along my jaw disappeared for me too. It was the only one I could feel when treatment began because the other one in the roof of my mouth (not a lymph node, but a tumor) was completely removed for biopsy. All other nodes could not be felt by me or my onc.
I'm so sorry that food has already begun to taste bad and that you have some nausea. What was it you took for the nausea? I use papaya enzymes for indegestion.
I did find as you have that fruit didn't lose it flavor and I found I needed food with lots of spices/herbs to have any taste at all. Can you eat smoothies with added protein powder since it sounds like you're not getting much protein right now in your diet? This might be a good alternative to just eating fruit alone and it may help to stabilize your weight loss. I've not heard of blueberry soup, but it sounds interesting. I eat blueberries on my Kashi cereal almost every morning since it is such a fruit rich in wonderful nutrients.
Ah, forgiveness, now that is subject worth pursuing. Would you please share with me what the title of the video was you watched. I'm always up on watching things that will help me grow. Some years ago my hubby and I realized that saying "I'm sorry" wasn't enough in certain situations and the phrase, "will you forgive for . . ." was needed and then hopefully opened up a dialogue. I also learned that forgiveness is for my health and healing not for the person or situation I'm forgiving. Too, forgiving is not about forgetting or acceptance of unacceptable behavior and it is a process.
You're healing I can sense it.
Blueberry soup??? Wow, sounds delicious!!! So sorry to hear you have to give yourself a shot daily. Good Lord, if I'd had to do that I'd still be chasing myself around the house!! I'm with Jane, lots of spices helped my when my taster went south, and I ate popcorn by the bushel. The salt I guess. Please keep an eye on your weight loss darlin'. You don't want to lose too much, your body needs reserves, yes?? Try and give yourself a respite from thinking about the 2nd & 3rd rounds, if you can. That will come soon enough. Let the things that bring you joy and soothe your soul take over for awhile. Beauty and joy are well deserved.
Take good care of you, Carol. Wishing you serenity and peace for today, then tomorrow, then on and on and on.

Goooooooooodmorning, Carol and all!
Happy Wednesday! I'm choosing to make this a good day no matter what! Thankful for all I do have and thumbing my nose at the challenges now and ahead.
Fruit was my 'best friend' during chemo. Practically lived on that, ice cream, and frozen fruit pops. Discovered meat of all kinds just felt weird in my mouth and the longer I chewed the "bigger" the bite became . LOL Veggies - especially beans - were another good food friend. But we need protein to help with muscle loss so peanut butter became a choice. I could tolerate soups pretty well too as long as there wasn't much meat in them.
I had to go through a round of daily shots in the first cycle of ESHAP unfortunately it was "office policy" that THEY had to give them to me even though I'm well versed in how to give myself injections (do 3 a day now for disbetes). What a pain to have to go to the clinic daily! Thankfully it's only 10 mins or so from home but it sure was an incovenience. Did a little experiment on myself between cycle 1 and 2 and during cycle 2 and added cod liver oil capsules, b-complex+C, a multi-vtamin, and (something else - can't remeber) and while my sounts dropped they didn't go to the danger zone and no shots needed.
Assuming you're doing neupogen shots, Carol? Has there been a suggestion of neulasta instead?? Does basically the same thing but it's oly 1 shot, no a series of dailies. Bone pain afterwards is common but most can control it with OTC meds. It kicks your bone marrow into overdrive to produce wbc's and that's the cause of the pain.
Off to my local doc at 10 AM today to discuss my upcoming treatment plan. Still working on the assumption of a January start. Still have the nodes scattered here there and everywhere but nothing new since "the big grape" showed up between my port and left arm a few weeks ago and it's just kinda hanging out like all the rest. I'll post over on my own thread this evening about 'the plan' after I see Doc today.
Hope y'all have a Wondermous Wednesday - hang in there no matter your worries and concerns. Be determined, do something kind, and remember....this too shall pass.
Hugs!
Good morning Carol -
Yes, it is hard work, and it seems you will not be able to do the whole round, but you will, you will. The Rituxan is a wonderful thing, I was given anti-gout medication to handle all the dissolving tumors. I had several palpable nodes and most of them decreased significantly after the first treatment. It seemed like a miracle!
Everything tasted metallic to me from the medication, I sucked on hard candies to try to reduce that or cover it up. It would reduce over the 3 weeks until the next treatment.
I agree with others, you need to keep your strength up, so you might need to eat even when it is not appealing. I took anti-nausea meds to keep it from getting out of control.
Take care
Carol

Well gang,
Here I am day after four days of chemo. Much better experience this time. I didn't throw up at all. Still have that nasty after taste, so I don't want to eat anything. I had a drumming journey last Sunday that was incredible. A shaman came and drummed for me and taught me how to connect with the earth and the sky throughout. It was so healing and helped me to go with the flow this chemo round. If anyone wants more detail about my journey just ask. It's kind of personal for this website. But if it benefits anyone whatsoever, I'm happy to share it with you one on one. I took L-Glutamine for a week before and during chemo and I'm pretty sure that's why I didn't throw up this time. Also, I've had acupuncture and Reiki regularly. I'm starting to get the hang of combining holistic medicine and the Western Medicine docs. The response of this hospital to my determination to be involved in the decisions and all the holistic things I'm doing has been fantastic.
Hope this note finds everyone getting better.... Reiki to all
Carol
I am glad you are coping well. I will keep routing for you. Signed an oldie but goodie. You might not know me yet - but I still pop in from time to time. Quick stats- In remission for DLBCL since last August. Dawnsie
Hi Carol and WOOHOO! on the lack of side effects this time around. Yes! So much better. Think the tastebuds going wonky is just something that can't be worked around easily but in the scheme of things, it's nothing but a thing, right?
The drumming sounds interesting. Connecting with the earth - very healing in itself. So I, for one, would like to hear more but only as much as you feel comfortable with. I'm having my first accupuncture next week. Just for general realignment of the energy. My back problems seem to be resolving themselves. Have yet to make the time to check into local Reiki massage (I know....bad girl.....). Getting myself as prepared and "good" as possible in advance of chemo the end of January.
Been a long and crazy week for me. I've barely had the time to peek in and much less to even respond to emails or post. <sigh>
YIPPEE, alright and hot damn........no more froking out (left over from childhood). Your experiences sound exciting, and I would love for you to share them with
me...maybe I can obsorb thrugh osmosis! Isn't it wonderful when we are comfortable with our doctors and caregivers, especially when we have little choice.
I am truly happy for you, just wish we lived closer so I could rub you like a magic lamp!!
Keep on keeping on, and let us know how you're progressing.
Faith, love, trust, Reiki and let's throw drumming in there, cause I would so love that!!!!
Happy tomorrow....
Kgirl
Hi Carol,
I'm thrilled that your chemo went so much better this time. Isn't it amazing as we take a proactive stance for our care how much better we do. I'm cheering you on with prayers and good thoughts and am VERY interested in your drumming journey. I've learned so much from you already and would love to learn more. So, whenever you have time and energy, I'd love to hear about it.
Hugs and blessings,
Jane
