Any mom's with young children?

I have a 5yr old son and a 2yr old daughter (they were 4 and 1 at the time of my diagnosis). Anyone else?

My daughter was just diagnosed with ALL on Monday 9-21-09.  She just turned 31 on Friday and has a 7yr old.  Fortunately we have already put together a plan to make sure my Granddaughter can be cared for

whenever my daughter either is not able to, or can't be exposed to her daughter because of risk of infection. That seems to be the Dr's greatest concern because she's in school and exposed to all the

kid's colds, flu, etc.  Bring on the lysol, purel, etc......

Hi,

I have 4 children. My youngest is 7. I also have 3 teenagers. My youngest was 4 when I was diagnosed.

so you've been dealing with this for several years already.  It's only been 3 weeks and it feels like it has been a year.  Fortunately she is doing well with her treatments and the Dr has given us thumbs-up so far.   Our Granddaughter is funny... when my daughter crys or feels down, Olivia says "I'll just have to tickle your feet- to make you laugh".   Certainly changes the mood quickly.

I had a 2 year old son when I relapsed with Hodkgin's last year. I had to go through an auto stem cell transplant. The hardest part was being away from my son. We do what we have to do though to be around for them in the long run! I hope he was young enough that he won't remember me being gone so long.

My husband is 31 years old and was diagnosed with AML May of this year.  We have a 9 1/2 month old daughter.  He is currently scheduled to have a BMT January 2010.  Right now I am battling with us being separated from our daughter during this time since the hospital he is having the BMT done is 4 hours away from our home.  Thank God for our mothers...his mother is a nurse and has volunteered to share caregiving role with me and my mother will care for our daughter when I am out of town with my husband.

I am a single mom with a 3 year old son and was diagnosed with a stage IV Hodgkins Lymphoma back in September of this year. It has been tough especially since my son just started Pre-K, but I am a firm believer in God and I have an awesome family who has truly supported me throughout this.

Re: Any mom's with young children?

My daughter is 25 and diagnosed with ALL March 09.  During her first 6 months we temporarily relocated her about 10 hours away.  she is the mother of twin boys (7 years old) and three year old daughter.  The seperation was terrible on her.  Others recommended SKYPE free download.  It was her family's saving grace during that difficult time.  This program allowed her to communicate with her children daily (webcam with audio).  It is worth checking out even if you are not as far as 10 hours away - My daughter's grandfatther, husband and myself took turns staying with her in the apartment.  Her grandfather did the majority of the caregiving.  She has since moved home and travels 5 hours for her treatments (maintenance) everyother week.  She just had a bone marrow biopsy done.  The first one, about a week ago, needed to be redone today because the test result/report stated read, "inconclusive" which the doctor said tthe sample was not sufficient?  I know that even with these set backs I see her eyes shine when she returns home to her kids.  If she has to stay overnight SKYPE keeps in touch with the kids and they love it - its their time to shine for mom!! Hang in there and I hope you take advanatage of all the tecnology to help you through

Re: Any mom's with young children?

Hello,

I am 23, and a mom to a active 3yr old son. Dx with Cml in 2004, so its loads of fun, but thankfully one pill a day and its all good in the nieghborhood, so far that is. I have my mother in-law, but she lives a little far away from here. I am kind of on my own with my husband, but we make due, and are so thankful for everything god has given us.
