Re: adam's transplant

Sounds like Adam is doing well despite the platelet concern. Tell him to keep up the good work. He continues to be an inspiration.

Re: adam's transplant

Well, you have three people here telling you not to worry about the PLT.  As much as I like to go against the crowd, I just can't on this one.  Platelets bounce around like rubber balls.  It could be a virus.  It could just be his immune system is very young and they haven't leveled out, yet.  I'm almost five and a half years out and my PLT still aren't stable.

Hope this helps.

Re: adam's transplant

Sounds logical to me.  I mean the only thing that would cause bleeding and brusing, short of injury would be lowered PLT.  They would have to be much lower than Adam's presently are before that would occur.  Still, if he's got that medication thing going on along with the general insanity of PLT, yeah, that could well be an explanation.  I'd certainly ask the docs about it.

Have a great weekend with your daughter.  That sounds really great.

Re: adam's transplant

Thanks for the update, Marta.  Adam continues to be a superstar in the transplant world.  Hopefully, he will be able to ride this to the top and be over it all before terribly long.

Keep us informed.

Re: adam's transplant

Marta,

I just read your whole thread and wanted to tell you that our husbands had their tranplants the same day. Now today, they are both at day+70 and doing well.

We do have one worry (you can read about it, strange chimerism), but I am hoping it is of no concern.

I enjoyed reading about how well your husband is doing. He sounds a lot like my husband, Ben, because both of them work a lot. Ben is an actuary and is always busy with the work from his office, which I bring home and he receives via email.

Lots of luck,

Sue

Re: adam's transplant

Marta, glad to hear things are going in the right direction. That's too bad that his doctor was sick and the other one wasn't telling you much. Hope your next appointment goes well. Take care.

Re: adam's transplant

You know, Adam's given you as little reason to worry for the future as anyone I've ever seen.  Yes, there is always the possibility something can happen.  Still, he has done this like a champion.

Sure, you'll worry.  But I hope knowing he's a superstar is comforting to some degree.

Re: adam's transplant

Marta, it definitely seems like Adam's on his way! Things have certainly gone well for him, I think he's a champ, too! What's the worst part now (besides the understandable worries for the future)? I think at this point, I was still batting a little bit of nausea now and again, and food still tasted awful to me, so getting enough to eat was a challenge, but otherwise things were good. I hope he keeps up the good work (I'm sure he will) and you've been a huge part of getting him this far. Keep us posted.

Hugs,

Pam

Re: adam's transplant

I wish I could send you some of the snow we've had.  By the time it got to you, it would be more similar to rain, though.

I'm glad Adam's doing so well.  You can't argue with success.

Blessings
