H1N1 vaccine and low ANC

So we all got our vaccine and that night we got Aj's bloodwork.  He has an ANC 370 and a WBC of 0.9.  my question is will the vaccine work?  I read on another post that with an ANC that low can the kids build any antibodies?  Was this vaccine null and void?  Any insights?

Re: H1N1 vaccine and low ANC

Our onc told us that, in order for a vaccine to be effective, a person has to be able to mount a decently robust immune response to it.  Thus, when on steroids (immuno-suppressants) or when the WBC count is too low, the vaccine may likely be ineffective.  Sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad news.  However, perhaps it's just a question of lessening efficacy of the vaccine, and that as long as SOME immune response can be mounted, there will be some resistance built up against the virus.  Perhaps it's better than no resistance at all?

I wouldn't know firsthand since we can't seem to get our hand on the inactivated vaccine around here...(even our oncs haven't been able to get vaccinated).

I don't understand...they didn't make blood count before vaccine or they chek after? In our clinic first make a blood test and after that give or not vaccien.
