For me, five years post transplant (which I celebrated Nov. 17) really felt like a milestone ... like it was finally really over. That life is much less about cancer than it is about cancer... That I can meet people, start a new job, etc. and no one even needs to know about it. I don't feel compelled to share this history. I certainly don't think about it everyday like I once did. I can go days and weeks without "it" (cancer) crossing my mind. While I live with it in the form of ongoing health issues (hypopituitarism and other endocrinological weirdness) it's just not the sort of presence in my life it once was - which is amazing.
