finding it difficult to raise funds? Fall seems to bring on massive assault of fundraising efforts. Schools, churches, daycares, and many many charities all seem to be asking for donations. I can't tell you how many calls I have made to local businesses in search of sponsorship only to hear "I just donated to such-and-such." Can anyone give me pointers? Even my attempts to donate profits of novelty item sales isn't producing. ACK! How do you convey the importance of this research??

I have found out that you need to have phamplets, papers, and official LLS contacts to hand out at the local businesses. The initial contact and follow-up visits has to be in person, phone calls are pretty much a dead end. Some of the businesses that have already committed funds to other causes sometimes are willing to give gift cards; Walmart, Grocery Stores, Home Depot and so on. Some retailers will give you cash which you will need to put in your account and then transfer it in thier name to the fund raising site.

After the third visit to a business, you need to change tactics to: If the store is over obligated, I completely understand, just please let me know ifyou can't support the research so that I can commit my resourses to other stores.

Someone in your community does have a blood cancer, find that person and ask if it would be okay to raise funds in thier name.
