What a great idea! My daughter Kati loved to bake, and would often bake goods to take to training runs to treat her teammates. Kati would bake many of the things I remembered most fondly my Mom baking, so unfortunately that means they were probably from Betty Crocker's cookbooks. I am such a baby boomer. Good luck with your project.

What a great idea! And totally up my alley! I also participate on the Cooking Light community boards, and literally, last week posting a question about Team In Training. The thread is still live. I've asked them to either submit some recipes here, or link to the ones they have posted on that site or post them to that thread, and I'll copy them over for you. Good luck! And sit tight, I'm sure you'll get some great feedback shortly!

Got one already!

This is from Bob : http://community.cookinglight.com/showthread.php?t=53876

BBQ Smoked Turkey Joes
The only change I made was to use a couple chopped garlic cloves instead of the powder. I did wind up using the full amount of Liquid Smoke, which was not too much at all, although at first taste it was all I could think about! I did it on high for three hours and removed the lid for a half hour more because I like my Joes nice and thick.

BTW, while I do like ground turkey and use it a lot, I think this is the best recipe I've ever found for it. I even had it for breakfast this morning!

BOB

***********

BBQ Turkey Smokey Joes
(Rival's "The New Creative CrockPot")

3 lbs. ground turkey
1 onion finely chopped
1 green pepper, seeded and finely chopped
2 - 8 oz. cans tomato sauce
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup brown sugar
3 Tbs. cider vinegar
1 Tbsp. liquid smoke
1 Tbsp. Worcerstershire sauce
1 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1/4 tsp. garlic powder

10 onion sandwich rolls, split and toasted

Brown the turkey in a skillet and drain the fat. Place in the crockpot slow cooker and add the remaining ingredients. Stir thoroughly. Cover; cook on Low 8 to 10 hours (or on High for 3 to 4 hours). To serve, spoon turkey and sauce over the rolls.

Makes ten servings.

(Yeahrightsure!)

EDITED TO ADD: "For a 5,6, or 7 qt. cooker, double all ingredients except the ketchup, sugar and vinegar."

All I'm doing is typing! ;) I'm sure that in the next day or so you'll have a ton of responses to the CL post. They are very kind and generous people, who LOVE to cook and talk about it.

Best of luck! And I'll thing of my own personal favorite recipe to share with you.

Thanks!

These are two family favorites. We have the Quiche every Christmas morning and the cobbler every Thanksgiving (the cobbler isn't an original by any means, but popular!)

h1. Green Chile Quiche

¼ C butter or margarine

5 eggs

¼ C flour

8 oz. Cottage Cheese

8 oz. Grated Monterey Jack and

Cheddar Cheese mix

4 oz. diced green chilis

½ teaspoon baking soda

Coat pan with the butter or margarine. Beat eggs

well and add the rest of the ingredients mixing them

well into the mixture.

Pour into a square pan.

Bake at 350 until cooked through

If you use an 8x13 pan, double the recipe.

PUMPKIN COBBLER 1 cn Pumpkin, large can 4 Eggs; large, beaten 1 1/2 c Sugar 1 ts Salt 1 ts Ginger 1/2 ts Cloves 2 ts Cinnamon 1 cn Evaporated milk; 13 ozs. 1 pk Yellow cake mix 1 c Butter; melted 2 tb Brown sugar 1/2 c Almonds; slivered,OR 1/2 c Chopped walnuts Blend together, pumpkin, eggs, sugar, salt, ginger, cloves, cinnamon and canned milk. Pour into greased 13"x9"x2" pan. Sprinkle dry cake mix over top of mixture. Drizzle melted butter over dry cake mix. Sprinkle brown sugar over butter. Top with a sprinkling of nut meats. Bake in a 350 deg.oven for 1 hour (depending on oven, check at 45 min) Makes 9 3"x4 1/4" servings....
