Forum For Researchers

Over the years of my presence on these boards periodically we have young teens arriving asking "desperately urgent" questions researching for there assignments. These threads always encourage much debate with lack of respect for others opinions and inevitably turns sour everytime one of these people arrive and causes disunity between otherwise civil constant users. Most will ignore these posts as I have constantly done over the years but it does get under one's skin from time to time when teens claim to understand and know the feelings of parents in this battle, and the majority of the time they sprout in the kids forum. This will continue to happen as it would seem teens are encouraged by teachers/hospitals to come here, these forums are characterised sections and the kids forum is for parents of children with cancer not researchers asking questions with ridiculous replies when they don't like the replies they gain. I for one would like to see a complete new section for these people to ask there questionaires therefore those who wish to participate in this area can, without having it thrust in one's face in other area's of the boards where it is widely unwanted causing disruption and debate, could this be a possibility?

Re: Forum For Researchers

I've got to say that the posts I've seen from students have tended to be pretty civil.  A rare exception for when opinions differ around here.  Some folks don't like the way it comes across, others are glad to answer.  But I've never seen those two positions become angry with one another.

You must've seen something else.  I guess my thoughts on this one are such a forum would be harmless, though I'm not sure the students would find it.  But I also hope we don't keep creating forusm to provide space for any contingency.

Interesting thought.

Weird.  That seems to be the only controversy I've missed around here.

Re: Forum For Researchers

I agree with you Greeny, There needs to be a major thread for the researcher to touch on and leave the main threads for Patients and careers, I am apauled that there has not been a response that we can see from any moderators as this to me is a hot topic, I my self like to research on different things about my cancer and some of the treatments.

So this should be looked into further.
