That is amazing and inspriational! Isn't it cool to hit a big FUNd-raising target without the rich friend? My first even was also the Midnight Sun Marathon in 2005. I was just past 3 years starting chemo (Hod. Lym.) and that felt wonderful enough. I can't imagine after only a year. Crossing that finish line at 26.2 was probably the proudest moment in my life. God bless you and thanks for sharing!
San Diego 2006 as part of "Kati's Deam Team" from the MD chapter.
Kati Fisher was one of the MD chapter's most active honored patients. She had targeted the 2006 San Diego marathon as the one that she would be old enough to run with the Team. Unfortunately she lost her battle in 2004, so her Dad organized "Kati's Dream Team" to come and run it for her. The organziers allowed him to run with 2 numbers and 2 timing chips and if you search the results of San Diego for 2006 you will see that Kati Fisher is listed as an official finisher.
That ranks as my favorite TNT experience with an honorable mention being running my first ever marathon with the Team in Baltimore in 2005.
GO TEAM!
Eric, I am touched that this left such a good remembrance. Remind me to give you a hug next time I see you, better yet maybe I can give it to your lovely wife to pass on. Kati dreamed of there being a cure one day, and because of people like you I am confident when I say, "The Dream lives in those she touched".
