Live In No. Cal, Working in NYC, Training for Rome '08 Marathon - Help Please!

Hi Team!

I currently live in San Mateo, CA and am working in NYC every other week for the next 3-4 months. I will be training for the Rome '08 Marathon (an alumni from the '07 Rome Marathon!) and would love to connect with NYC Team Members for walk and walk/run training. Any suggestions or takers out there?

Thanks,

Yes, hello Marjorie! Where are about you staying in NYC? What side of town? I have a sister-in-law who is a very dedicated Freds' Team marathoner. (If your not familiar with Freds' Team, it is very similar to TNT, except they are in existance in NYC as all their funding goes back to Sloan Kettering Hospital for Cancer research). Anyway, when she is not training with Freds' she sometimes runs with the NY Road Runners Club.  Go to NYRR.ORG to find out more info. ALSO- please be careful when running in NYC- be safe & alert, this is coming from a "native NY'er" here.

If your interested I can ask her to suggest a few safe routes, as I know she often runs in Central Park as well.

You should ask your run manager to put you in touch with the TNT chapter in NY, which will allow you to tag along with their training runs.

Hi Marjorie,

I also travel a lot, So what I do is go to  www.teamintraining.org put in the zip code of the city I am going to to work at the top of the page where it says find chapter. Then at the top of the next page you will find Local Staff Contacts; click on that and it will give you the  names, phone numbers, and emails to the local team. Then they will let you know where and when they are running. It is alot of fun and you makes a lot of real good friends that may be running the same event you are. You just never know.

Good luck and God Bless
