I'm not really a hobby kind of guy.  Unless you count posting on the LLS boards.

    Sorry.

Thanks for the kind words.  I appreciate the,

I don't actually think I spend much time.  I'm just consistent and on here most days.  It probably looks like I do way more than I actually do do.

I appreciate your modesty.  The consistency is so wonderful   I know if I have an issue then you will see it and you will address it; though I don't do that as much as I could/should there is comfort in knowing.

Don't feel picked on, it may have been my reply mentioning F** news and the "fillings cause cavities" thread over on the CML board

Holy crap.  Do you think they thought we were serious?

Oh, crap.  I bet someone reported them as abuse?

And the chatter about someone not wanting to reply to my posts has been removed, too.

Are you f-ing kidding me?!  This is horsesh*t.

Couldn't access this thread when I arrived in Juneau last night ;(  Got in this morning and of course I've no idea who posted what after my F** News remark.  Very difficult to use ** in the F word as F** is a four letter word, lol

I'm really curious!  What did you and KyGuy say??

                  Oh, @ KyGuy,

Are you really in Ky?  What county?  I'm going to make a trip up there, Logan, Jessamine, Garrard, Warren & Hart are on my list.  Since it has to be in 'shroom season it will be next Spring or next Fall.

What we wrote was really harmless stuff.  If whoever got their panties in a wad about this saw how he and I interact on the transplant forum, I do declare it might give him/her the vapors.

It started after I wrote if it took a week and a half for him to come up with his post that I was full of crap.  If I remember correctly, he wrote to the effect that he didn't come to this forum that much; he was looking for, let's say more "active" banter.  (You know, the elections are coming up and this place was a hotbed back in '08.  It can get entertaining in here.)

I said something about I'd tried to get things stirred up here a few times, without much luck.  Someone I've never seen before then wrote that she'd deleted replies to my "site," whatever the hell that is.  I don't have a site.  She then added that comment made her disinclined to reply to my posts.

I told her that was OK with me.

The next day that was all gone.

I swear sometimes I think they've hired 1950's school girls as moderators.

Yeah, you're not going to get a rise out of me about "fgs Texas."  Just spent a week there visiting kin.  Turns out my dad and my BIL (wife's brother) are birthers.  I can't believe with the long-anticipated release of his long form birth certificate there are still people clinging to that belief.

I'm just glad I got out of there before the Republicans started poisoning the local water supply with LSD.

                          Dang, well, I tried

Birthers, very odd, very odd; but then my bro felt that he was a Muslim sleeper, put here at birth to further the agenda, lol.  I'll never know if he was serious or pulling BOTH my legs.

I loved The Pres's birthday greeting to Betty White.  Very refreshing humor, poking sticks at THAT snake, lol

I dunno.  As bizarre as the claims were, I was willing to let the birthers and the "secret Muslim" conspirators the benefit of the doubt that maybe they thought they had legitimate concerns.  After the long form was released, I just can't see anyone buying it.

Turns out, FWIW, that dad honestly believes he has a recording where our president admits to being born in Kenya.  I looked it up and it's so obviously edited I can't believe anyone would believe that's an actual recording.  In addition, the White House has the archival tape and he doesn't say that at that place in the speech.

What really troubles me is that some people are so desperate to try to assure things go their way they're willing to doctor things like this.  And others are so desperate for things to be the way they want to believe they are that they will, indeed, believe that nonsense.

I think that paragraph makes sense.  Anyway, I hadn't heard anything about the Prez and Ms White.  I looked it up.  Funny.

Glad you got to see Betty White's birthday greeting from the Prez, I thought it was special.

As for 'the long form' issue.  Since there has now been a precedent set by Obama and Romney, imo, every canditate for ANY office should provide both their birth certificates and Federal Tax Return.

Serious bs that Romney had to provide his and none of the other yayhoo's did.

You know, I really don't know.  When all of the hullabaloo about his tax returns was in the news, I heard someone say that, I think it was Romney himself..  But no one called him on it, so I figured he finally got something right.

I don't pay attention to that kind of minutiae, especially when they are so blatantly unprepared to be president in the first place.  It seems obvious to me, simply by what he says, that Romney's only interest in the presidency is to keep taxes low for him and his frat brothers.

Well, I guess it could be called minutia.

Unfortunately, I don't find much else to attend in this arena.

Seems we have the choice between socialistic capitalism and  and fascist capitalism.  I tend toward the socialistic for I find the fascist way too strident.

Sorry if I sounded dismissive when I wrote about it being minutia.  It's just that policies and attitudes are of greater concern to me.  I also try to avoid the default position that anyone with money is a crooked bastard.  I think a lot of Buffett and Gates, for example.

This doesn't mean I'm unaware they're still keeping at least half their wealth for the family.  I also wonder why none of the billionaires (like Buffett) who acknowledge they could pay more taxes haven't remembered they can just donate money to the government.  There is absolutely, positively no law against that.  So, why not pay the taxes you should be paying if you morally agree you should be paying more?

But I digress.  That's just a favorite rant from 2011.

Anyway, there are only so many mental balls I can keep in the air and that number is greatly reduced from before AML.  Trying to focus on what these idiots intend to do is more important to me, for the most part, than what they've done.

I absolutely agree with what you said about Baby Bush setting the new low standard for qualification for the presidency.  I guess it's true, anyone can grow up to be president, so long as your daddy's a rich guy who served as a congressman and ran the CIA.  (FWIW, I liked Molly Ivins' nickname for Baby Bush...Shrub. )

Whoops, Tex, I misread your response

and "said something about I'd tried to get things stirred up here a few times, without much luck.  Someone I've never seen before then wrote that she'd deleted replies to my "site," whatever the hell that is.  I don't have a site.  She then added that comment made her disinclined to reply to my posts."

                      Perhaps she complained?

Very interesting.  I do think in honest and fairness, the jerk who edited out the remarks should have, at least, posted a " post's deleted' item.

But then, it's their site, they are most likely happy with the site now that there are few visitors, less work for them.

Yes, I'm in the great land of Ky.  I live in Kenton County - just south of Cincinnati.  It's funny how the rural areas of Ky go by counties instead of cities.  There's a possibility that I'll be moving N.C. since my company is moving to Charlotte.  I'm working on finding a job that will keep me here.

The only thing I can think of that might have upset someone was using an alternate term for urination.  Although some would call my mere presence an offense but that's usually based on my looks.

    Ok, I'll give

Now that I've recovered and my energy is more limited I had to find at least one active hobby to round out my life.  Researching family history got me back in cemeteries, which I've always haunted, lol.  They've been a place of peace & comfort for me for a very long time; a place where people quietly tell parts of their stories.

So, I've begun photographing a few local cemeteries to add headstone photographs  to a free web site, FindaGrave.  I sharpen my photography skills, beginner, and get to walk allot, which I need; plus, the stories are still being told.  Being in a new part of the county and a rural area to boot, it's allowed me to learn the history of the area and it's people.

    Cool, eh?

My SIL just turned me onto findagrave.com while I was in Ft Worth last week.  Looks interesting.  I didn't look at it long and didn't know they needed folks to take pictures.  That actually sounds like something I can do.

I am hoping to add kayaking to my repertoire this summer.  I've done it a few times on the ocean and loved it.  I really want to get down some of our rivers around here.

        How Great, Tex,

That your SIL is spreading the word.  I'm working on a bio for my mom; now that I'm ready to tackle it    The first memorial I created was for my brother after he passed last August.  My sister is working on his bio.  I found much comfort in 'visiting' his grave.  Here's a link to his memorial and he's linked to both my parents:

        http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSvcid=246581&GRid=79896504&

Yes, you could do it!  And there are more than a few benches, some in the shade, to rest when needed

Kayaking!  Oh, I hope to do some this summer with my SIL, she's seasoned and the ocean is handy in Juneau

I think it was out of Juneau that we did our kayaking in AK.  Does Eagle Island strike a familiar note?  That's where we went.  I'm really sure it was in Juneau but those cruises have an activity per port of call and sometimes they get scrambled.

Thanks for sharing your brother's marker.  I've never read that saying before.  It's nice.

Paint. You don't have to know how and you don't have to paint a thing, just run the brush across the paper or canvas. Anything at a hobby store, And self teach crochet. I'm not saying it will ALWAYS help. There are times when I am too anxious to do anything but go crazy...but more times than not unless things are critically bad, they help.

Have not even considered a paintbrush, except for the 'project',  lol.  Could be fun, have you been painting long?

I was going to add a few wonderfully non socially acceptable hobbies, but since other posts have been removed, (and I am already under scrutiny, had a few removed recently on another board) I will just allow everyone's imagination to run wild with what I was going to add.
