Would like to join VTNT

I am starting to get really frustrated as I have for years wanted to raise money for TNT and it seems like getting registered to be a participant isn't so easy.

I have contacted both the local Chapter and the National Chapter. The local Chapter is about 5 hours away, not very practical for me to attend a meeting mid week. I have sent email messages to both chapters to get information on registering. What I get back is a link to the website. I wouldn't normally say I am an easily confused person, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to sign up as a participant on the website. Is there some "secret" as to keep people that aren't serious from signing up? anyone want to clue me in on what I am doing wrong?

I don't mean to complain, it;s just that my mom died of lymphoma 16 years ago this month, and I have wanted to run for TNT for about 8 years now. Finally I am in a place where I have time and energy for training and raising money. I am already running 13 to 17 miles on the weekend and would like to do a marathon. I've got friends that would happily donate and I would like to raise money for team in training, however, it is starting to be really really frustrating. any advice? It's also frustrating because this board is not easy to use and doesn't appear to have much TNT train use. Just frustrated. Sorry for the rant.

Re: Would like to join VTNT

I am sorry you have faced these obstacles. Have you tried calling?  Here in Maryland we have several training locations from one main office, so maybe you do have something closer.  But virtual TNT from what I understand is a sign up on it's own. I am sorry for your loss, and I understand the need to do something, and how frustratiing it feels when it seems your road is blocked.

Good luck, let us know what happens.

Re: Would like to join VTNT

You are amazing! And you have taken the first step to joining the Team that will beat cancer. And from a grateful father of a former patient thank you for all that you will do. And a double thanks for what you and your family (soon to be official!) do to serve our country. If you need any help or advice post it here or feel free to e-mail me. I use to own a running store, have coached for TNT along with having done many events.

Re: Would like to join VTNT

mizunoheaven, I've been having the same problem. I have a crazy work schedule and sometimes cannot attend mtgs and activities that are pre-scheduled and

the nearest mtg place is far away to drive.

I have a great insentive to join as my mother died at 64 of leukemia and my brother in law died at 29 of lymphoma....any assistance will be appreciated.

By the way, I'm in the Palm Springs, CA area.

Re: Would like to join VTNT

I am also in an area that does not have a close by chapter (I am on the Southern Maine Coastline area). I did speak with someone in Mass. about getting involved with VTNT. I am in hopes my materials arrive soon. I am attending a meeting in Portsmouth, NH on Jan. 31 but want to get going on whatever I can now.  I have been fighting NHL for 7 years, am now permanantly bald, but turned 50 yesterday and want to do something truly worthwhile with the time I have. The doctors told me years ago I would not make it this long.

I am a fighter, and former jock. Time to give something back to those to need help. Let's wipe out this beast in our lifetimes.

At your service, always,

Kathleen

Kathleen you already have done something. You are an inspiration to me, and I am sure countless others. Good luck with VTNT I have never been involved with that aspect of the group.  But I am sure you will do wonders.   Rick
