The widgets that appear when customizing Your View enable you to create a home page that shows you only the content you want to see every time you log into The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Community.
These are widgets (click on the image to enlarge):

When you drag one of them down, like Latest Poll, it expands to display the latest content for that item (i.e. the latest poll posted on the LLS Community). To learn more about this process, go to the document on how to create Your View.
Here is list that explains each of the widgets available to you as a registered user of this online community.
- Communities - This displays a list of all communities available in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Community.
- Formatted Text - You may add any text you want. You may want to post links here that you don't want to forget, or write out a task list.
- HTML - You can post any HTML code here which allows you to embed things like a video from YouTube or photos from Flickr.
- Latest Poll - This displays the latest poll that has been posted in the community.
- Popular Blog Posts - This shows the most popular blog posts. You can specify the number of posts you wish to display, and whether or not you want full blog posts to appear or just links to those posts.
- Popular Discussions - This shows the most popular discussions. You can choose how many discussion threads you want to display, as well as from which community you want to display threads.
- Popular Documents - This shows the most popular documents, which only administrators can create. You can choose how many documents you want to display, as well as from which community you want to display documents.
- Popular Tags - This shows the most popular tags (learn more about tags). You can choose how many tags you want to display, which community's tags you want to see, and whether or not to tags associated with discussions, documents or blog posts.
- Recent Activity - This shows recent activity (discussions, documents, blog posts, status updates, etc.) for any specific community you're interested in, and you can specify how many you want to have displayed.
- Recent Blog Posts - You can determine how many posts you want to display, and whether or not you want full blog posts to display or only links to each post.
- Recent Content - This shows recent content (discussions, documents or blog posts) for any specific community and/or its sub-communities. You can specify how many you want to have displayed.
- Recent Discussions - This lists out however many discussions you want displayed, as well as from whichever community you choose.
- Recent Documents - This lists out however many documents you want displayed, as well as from whichever community you choose.
- RSS Subscription - You can add any RSS feed of your choosing here. Learn more about Really Simple Syndication at www.LLS.org.
- Status Updates - This is similar to the status update that you see in Facebook or Twitter. You can choose the number of updates you want to have displayed.
- Top Participants - This lists out the top participants in the community (top content creators). You can choose how many participants you want to display as well as for whichever community you choose.
- Watch A Tag - You can watch content associated with a specific tag of your choosing. You can choose number of results, and whether or not to show tags for discussions, documents or blog posts.
- Watch A User - You can watch content created by a specific user of your choosing. You can choose number of results, and whether or not to show their discussions, documents or blog posts.
How do you remove widgets from the default page? I removed some by draggin them up, and they seemed to be gone. But then they reappeared.
