Do you want to involve your children in your Fundraising Project?

I explained my children about Leukemia and the Society, and about what I am doing to contribute to the Research for the cure.

I asked them to talk to their friends about that and try to collect 1 dollar from each (they have a bunch of friends! I just started to to that, I will let you know if it worked!

I am also going to put a small box in a visible place in my house with the TNT logo; usually the weekends my house is really full of friends going back and forth. Spending the night, eating and drinking at my house, playing... I am happy with it. But from now on, as an idea of "conciousness and moral education" I will use the box as a weekend donation for shelter Haha!!! I really want to involve children on these issues, because I believe they are growing thinking they live in Disneyland. And the truth is nothing but the opposite for the rest of the world.

I live in a pretty big complex, and I am sending e-mails to my closest friends explaining the reason of the cause, and reminding them that it is important to be aware and contribute with something if they can't participate actively. So, I made a deal with them and I said: I am not going to ask you for money for free, I will clean your entire house for $60, so I will work for your donation.

And guess what! it is working! Or some friends don't feel comfortable with the cleaning and the immediately made a small donation.

If you don't mind cleaning bathrooms, try it!

Hello,

My father Francis Myers was recently diagnosed with MDS and Acute Myleiod Leukemia. He is 62 years old and was up until recently a very healthy person. Can anyone help with fundraising ideas? He is going to be having a Bone Marrow Transplant in November 2009. I am new to this. The family is clueless. We need help.
If anyone knows about fundraising please let me know.

Training for 01.31.10 Miami -- any New Yorkers up for teaming up?

I recently signed up for the ING Miami Marathon and I excited...but this is my first time training for such an endurance sporting event.

Always been a gym goer, love to pounce away on the treadmill and am into strength training.

I am looking for a partner to pair up with, maybe take runs on the humid streets of the Bronx, New York or even at Central Park.

My gym membership permits a buddy to come along, with no cost to you...but this buddy has to be strong minded -- because there are times I'm not.

Already spoken with Kimberly and she will officially reviewing and passing along the word.

If I can't get a buddy...can anyone suggest ideas, other than just running the treadmill, to build up endurance for an ACTUAL marathon?

Shoot me suggestion, feedback, anything fellow thoners!

How can I be a Virtual TNT mentor?

I just completed the Mayors Midnight Sun Half-Marathon in Anchorage Alaska on 6/20/09 with TNT. I am now training for the St. Pete Women's Half Marathon in November. I signed up for this next half on my own but note that TNT is a sponsor. My area is offering VTNT training but I have been unable to get any answer on whether or not I can be a virtual mentor. I would think VTNT would want mentors as well as coaches. As someone who raised over $5000.00 in this economy I think I could offer ideas on fundraising. Also, as an over 50 slow runner using the run/walk method I believe I could provide inspiration to others. I finished my half in 2hrs 53mins on a very hilly course while stopping to take pics and stopping at all water stops. This was one of the best things I have ever done in my life. I was not a runner in the past and only began running last May.

Any ideas?

I'm a new cyclist training for my first century, YAY. And as you all know this is a rather expensive sport to start!! So if anyone is upgrading this summer I'd love to snag up some of your reasonably priced leftovers. I'm really in need for a cadence computer and some pedals (I don't have shoes yet so any kind of pedals will do) Thanks in advance!!
