Hi Anne,

I think it depends very much on cytogenetics whether or not a person is a candidate for an auto transplant. I'm AML and don't know that much about ALL, but that is the impression I've gotten from my time spent here on these boards.

I'm so sorry about Mike, obviously you miss him very much. However, I hope you can get to a place where you can stop beating yourself up about it - hindsight is 20/20, and you made the best decisions (and so did he) with the information you had at the time. There is nothing to be gained by torturing yourself wishing you had made different decisions - you did your best, and the sad reality is that we do lose some folks from transplant and/or GVHD. I'm sorry Mike was one of the ones we lost.

I'm praying you can find some peace with all this at some point. I know you're hurting terribly and it's very difficult to pick yourself up and go on.

I know there has been great progress in ALL in children, just wondering if AML or ALL holds a greater prognosis in healthy adults over 50 if everything else is going well with CNS, BMB, etc, I thought PH- held a better outcome than PH+, maybe I am all wrong, also do adults have more trouble with HyperCVAD to keep lab counts up??? Still beating myself up over Mikes death after SCT, God how I wish we hadn't of done that or have gone to MDA or Seattle. Thanks, Annie One more question- when you go into remission after induction can you recieve your own cells- auto verses allo??

My son is 24 and has ALL; PH-. He was diagnosed Aug 2009. Doctor's at MD tried the children's protocol on him, but he developed pancreatitis. They switched him to Hyper-Cvad, but he relapsed. He was tolerating the Hyper-Cvad fairily well.

My other son did not match all of the necessary factors for the BMT, but the doctors have found 2 10 out of 10 matches on the registry. He is scheduled for a BTM on June 22nd. I am scared to death, especially afer reading the consent forms, but I know that this is his best chance.
