Dear faithful reader(s),

It has been awhile since my last blog...please forgive me. Training miles were getting up there! I ran 10miles last Sunday and was planning on 13 for my next long run…however life got in the way. Thank goodness for life though! I got in a real bad car accident last Thursday. Hydroplaned on 1-670, ran into cement median (numerous times), broke a rib, busted a lung, totaled a car…and survived to tell it. My guardian angel was on duty that day! Doc holds a month on my running and then some however. So for the next month my training will be at a halt; my faith and spirit however is going full speed. Everyday I’m getting better and every day I am thankful to be alive. Thanks to everyone for the food/visits/gifts/flowers/thoughts/and prayers!!

Although I can’t train doesn’t mean I can’t raise money for the LLS! I am having a Wine Tasting Event next Thursday at Camelot Cellars in the Short North from 6-9pm. I’m really excited for this fundraiser! O and thanks to City Barbeque who will be catering this event...yummy! $25/person! Let me know if you are interested! Eanne.owen@gmail.com.

News on my marathon: I might be switching to the Rock ‘n’ Roll Nashville marathon in April. Sorry PF Changs team…I might be leaving you all (still waiting to hear back from Mary). Either way…a marathon and $3,800 (hopefully more) is in my near future!

Stay strong,

Emily

fall cleaning!

Posted by eanne.owen12 Oct 9, 2009

Well the big fall cleaning garage sale fundraiser has come and gone! Thank you for all that donated items towards our worthy cause! We raised over $300 which turned out to be very good since we didn't price any items. My mother and father were the biggest help of all! Could not have done it without them! And a big thank you goes out to my grandma who graciously let out her garage for this sale!! This Saturday my team and I are doing another road block in New Albany and we hear it’s going to be nice weather, so once again, if you see us out there on the streets, please spare some change!!

It's official! Monday is the day we pick up our race day shirts! Next stop...Arizona! I'm super excited!!!

My feet are fully healed so now my training is in full gear again! I took a week off to let me blisters heal, which was the doctors and parents choice...not mine. I would have still run on them...so it's probably a good thing I went to the doctors. Anyways, I need to find a day this week to run 10 miles. Monday I ran 6 miles, and Wednesday a 5K PR: 25:30.

So I can confidently say, with the running/training/support/and fundraising...I will make it to the finish line and there will be a cure! Thanks for everything to everyone that has helped me with my goals! I need all the support and encouragement! Love you all!

Run on friends,

Emily

The Shake & Bake's

Posted by eanne.owen12 Sep 25, 2009

Last Saturday our team had our beer pong tournament fundraiser at Lodge Bar and let me tell you...it turned out to be quite a success! We had over 30 teams participate and raised over $800!! The winning team: The Shake & Bake's! They graciously gave back their winnings of $50 to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society! The winner of the 50/50 raffle as well gave his winnings of $80 to LLS! There really are great people out there and we all can make a difference!!

Now back to the training: I'm sure all of my faithful readers out there would like to know how my 17 mile runs are going..well not good what so ever. Those miracle shoes I have been talking about have been working against me. I rolled my ankle on my 8 mile run Tuesday and recieved gruesome blisters on the arch of my foot. Ever wonder what the third layer of your epidermis looks like? Well take a beet and cut it in half and thats the exact color and texture of your third layer of skin...I believe its called the stratum granulosum..not a pretty sight! So with that said, please! to all those runners out there, spend an extra $7 and buy moisture wick socks http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3026853&cp=2367438.2367828.2651892! Cotten sock will just destroy your feet, I have learned this the hard way! Anyways, I will be taking a few days off the running =( . Sorry Zac that I can't run this weekend with you! We'll get our swag on next time your in town!!

Moving on..

October 3rd is just around the corner and we all know what that means! The big fall cleaning-garage sale fundraiser (thats a mouth full)! I'm making some pretty cool buckeye necklaces that I will be selling at the sale, so come and check it out!

My weekend challenge to you: Run 6 miles Sunday morning, smile and enjoy every breath of it! You will be glad you did 30 years from now!

Keep loving life!

The TNT runners.

We run our way

We keep our heads straight

We feel the breeze on us

The rain will fall

The snow wil melt away

People come and go

But we run and remain the same

We're going to rock this roll we play

We're going to keep this path we know

We're going to rock this block again

We're going to beat our chests with hope!

We're going to kick our shoes up high

We're going to leave a cloud of smoke

We're going to dry these tears we cry

We're going to show this world we know!

I believe in me

I believe in the Team

I believe in a cure!!

I found this poem alooong time ago and changed a few things up for my team. This poem is dedicated to the PF Changs (TNT) team! Lets rock this roll we play all the way to the Rock 'n' Roll marathon in Arizona!

my magic mile.

Posted by eanne.owen12 Sep 17, 2009

Finally! New shoes from Road Runner! Custom fit and everything =) I found out that I over pronate on my left foot when I run, I have normal to high arches, and that my arch size is 6.5! No wonder I get painful blisters on my arches with size 8.5 shoes! It was pretty sweet actually, they set you up on a treadmill and its all computerized to figure out your foot type, pronation, etc. Highly recommend for all of those people who need new shoes for the marathon coming up. Still plenty of time to wear them in for the big race day! Plus all TNT members are VIP members! So go now and get customed!

I bought some pretty sweet nike plus shoes there..and of course I bought the nike chip that goes with it...plus the wrist band..=) but now I will always know my mileage and time. So today, with my handy wrist band and chip, I found out my magic mile which is 6:50! Before my new shoes my fastest mile was 7:25. Looking pretty..pretty..pretty good =)

Anywhoo...I counted the dollars with Amberly Sunday from our road block, and the team and I raised $735 in dollars...we haven't counted the change part yet, but I'm guessing well over $900 total!! Thank you for all that donated and for everyone who helped with the road block! Everyone was awesome!

BEER PONG TOURNY SATURDAY @ LODGE BAR!

Waking up the sun.

Posted by eanne.owen12 Sep 12, 2009

Rise and shine Columbus! Wow I forgot how hard it is to wake up at 5am for morning runs! Last time I woke up this early I was answering to my 'alam clock' Zac on the phone to wake me up for our summer-buddy morning runs! However, once I'm up, get a little stretch in, eat my bananas with peanut butter, get some coffee and my ONN updates, I'm ready for the morning air! Running for others makes my long runs seem much easier with meaning. So this morning, I am dedicating my run to Jeanne Reilly, who lost her life at age 67 battling leukemia in 1994. Jeanne was a beloved sister to my dear friend Loisanne. May there soon be a cure!

p.s. Roadblock this morning on Cemetery Road! 10-4pm! Spare some change for those in need! I promise it will put a smile on your face as well as bring hope to those battling blood-related cancers!

emily runs for funds

Posted by eanne.owen12 Sep 8, 2009

6 more weeks till the Columbus Marathon and I'm definitely getting hot feet! Literally, I'm in need of new running shoes, I'm already 400 miles in, and there's only so much glide sticks and ibuprofen can do! So I can fully say right now training isn't going as planned. I should be at my long runs of uhm..17 miles! ya, I'm at 11..tomorrow I hope to change that however I'm still sore from the other day of running and bodypump. Bodypump really can kick your butt! If anyone is a  memeber at Lifestyles, I highly recommend taking up a bodypump class! Anyways, over all I'm still running and raising money! I'll be doing a roadblock this Saturday from 10-4pm, so if you see a group of girls at intersections with buckets, please spare some change!

Wish me luck on my next run..13miles!

Happy trails everyone! =)

I'm planning on running my very first marathon October 16 here in Columbus, then run all the way to the finish line in Phoenix Arizona..all while raising money.

With my training: I'm currently at my long run of 9 miles. Today I'm shooting for 11. This week I ran 7.2 with the team on Tuesday and we had a really good run! We finished at 61:03. I need to however kick up the training this month. October will be here sooner then I am ready!

With my fundraising: Thank you everyone who has donated towards my fundraising! I have raised over $200 so far, and 3% closer towards my $3,800 goal. I'm throwing a Beer Pong Tournament fundraiser September 19th at Lodge Bar. $25/team, winning team get $50 plus a chance to win the 50/50 raffle. Let me know if you want to get a team together asap. Spots are filling up!
